Toyota’s Runaway Vehicles

You may have heard about the recent recall of over 2.3 million Toyota vehicles due to accelerator pedals getting stuck. The recall involves the following Toyotas:

• 2009-10 RAV4
• 2009-10 Corolla
• 2009-10 Matrix
• 2005-10 Avalon
• 2007-2010 Camry
• 2010 Highlander
• 2007-10 Tundra
• 2008-10 Sequoia

Other model Toyota vehicles may also have this same defect.

You may remember that it was just a few months ago that Toyota recalled over 4 million vehicles due to accelerator pedals getting stuck under floor mats. That problem caused numerous crashes and several people died due to the defective Toyotas.

Some experts believe this most recent recall does not go far enough because some unintended acceleration cases may be due to defective electronic components. Owners of the recalled models should contact their nearest Toyota dealer and not drive the vehicle at all.

Our Involvement

Currently, Trief & Olk is in the process of filing a court action against Toyota on behalf of a woman who was seriously injured in an accident caused by the sudden, unintended acceleration of her Toyota vehicle.

Trief & Olk has also filed a class action lawsuit - Haustein vs. Toyota Motor Corporation - against Toyota for loss of value of the vehicles in New York federal court.
